Fleas & Ticks
This is the first year that so many people are asking me what I do with my dogs for fleas and ticks, I have six. Well I have not used chemical flea and tick control in several years. I have had success with a product called Tickless. I used it last year on all my dogs and never found a critter on them. It works using ultrasonic waves that keep pest away.
This year I'm trying two new products, for us. The first is Fleasgone. This one works by creating a bio-resonate field to repel. It's suppose to last for 2 years. So that would be great.
The third product I'm trying is BioPower Pet. Basically working the same way, it has a natural frequency that generates an energetic field that repels fleas, ticks AND mosquitos. That is a bonus.
All of these products must be worn all the time. If you are someone who removes your dogs collars when they are home this won't work for you.
Adding a small quantity of garlic to your dog's food can be advantageous. While garlic used to have a negative reputation and was avoided as a dog food ingredient, small doses of garlic are now recognized for similar benefits as those for humans. Fresh garlic that is chopped and left for 10 minutes before use is recommended to allow the release of allicin, the active compound in garlic. I feed it every other day but you can do it daily. Below is a guide on the recommended daily amount of garlic to feed your dog based on its weight, using a level measuring spoon:
5lbs: 1/6 tsp
10lbs: 1/3tsp
15 lbs: 1/2 tsp
20lbs: 2/3 tsp
30 lbs: 1 tsp
If your dog is pregnant, a puppy or on any medications, please refer to your vet
Also, these products can take as long as month of wear before becoming effective. So at the start or if I'm going hiking or somewhere outside I use a natural spray on the dogs like Wondercide or Away by AnimalEO.
I've also added benefical nematodes to our yard and keep some diatomaceous earth around in case I see some critters.
All this info is from my personal experience or the products website. I cannot guarantee any results but I hope if you try them that they work for your pet.
