When a Cure Isn't the Goal: How Reiki Supports Quality of Life for Dogs

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer isn't a cure — it's comfort.
Lillie is a 12-year-old Vizsla with a big heart and a devoted mom who wanted nothing more than to help her girl feel her best. When Lillie was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, her veterinarian stepped in to manage her pain and discomfort. But her mom was looking for something more — a way to support Lillie's spirit and quality of life during this tender season.
That's where reiki came in.
After our session together, her mom sent me this sweet note:
"I wanted you to know that Lillie's energy level was much improved after you connected with her. Thanks for your help."
Messages like this remind me exactly why I do this work.
Reiki isn't a cure, and I never present it as one. But what it can do is remarkable in its own quiet way — helping an animal feel more settled, more at ease, more like themselves.

As I worked with her, what came through most clearly was this: Lillie wasn't suffering. She had some discomfort, yes, but no real pain. She was exactly where she wanted to be — content, peaceful, and wrapped in love.
She wasn't fighting her situation. She was simply living it, fully and gracefully.
That is its own kind of beautiful. And reiki helped create the space for that peace to deepen.
If your animal companion is navigating a serious diagnosis, know that there is support available beyond conventional treatment. Reiki can be a gentle, loving complement to the care your veterinarian is already providing — helping your pet feel more comfortable, more balanced, and more at home in their body, whatever stage of life they're in.
Lillie's mom knew her girl deserved every bit of peace she could find. I'm so honored to have been a small part of that.
