The aftermath of a hurricane can leave a trail of chaos and challenges in its wake. As I sit down to share my experience, I extend my empathy and concern for those who have faced the wrath of Hurricane Helene and the ensuing disruptions it has brought.
The Personal Impact
The days following Hurricane Helene were far from ordinary for my household. The storm left us grappling with power outages, the absence of wifi, fallen trees, flooded basements, and even holes in the roofs. While these issues were certainly a nuisance, I count myself fortunate that they were the extent of our struggles. The inconvenience caused by these challenges pales in comparison to the devastation in North Carolina and even what some of my neighbors had to contend with.
I genuinely hope that your recovery has been swift and that you have not encountered significant losses during this trying time. The resilience and solidarity displayed during moments of adversity was amazing. I am so grateful for all the neighbors that came out and pitched in to help each other.
Thoughts with Florida
My thoughts and anxieties have now shifted to the state of Florida, where I spent 25 years of my life. The news of Hurricane Milton's approach has filled me with worry for the friends that I hold dear in that region.
A Note of Unity
As we navigate the physical issues of clean up and rebuilding let's not forget our emotional and spiritual traumas. So many of us have been living in "fright or flight". Our stress levels are going crazy and so are our animals. Therefore for the month of October I will be offering 20% all reiki sessions.
Stay safe, stay strong, and let us continue to support one another with unwavering kindness and empathy.
In solidarity and resilience,
