Palliative & Hospice Care

People ask me all the time "How did you get started doing this?" or "How can you do this?"

The palliative care was easy. I wanted to help dogs recover from illness and injury. I wanted to keep them healthy. The hospice care, that sort of followed right behind.

Before I even started in holistic animal care I was the one that people would ask to come with them when they were looking for a new pet and I was also the person they asked to support them when the time came to say good bye to that pet. I drove them, I sat with them, I hugged them, I cried with them.

As time went on and I gained skills, insight and training I started to care for the sick and elderly pets. Loving them, comforting them, keeping them comfortable. I fostered Fospice dogs, foster dogs that are old, ill or dying. Which ended up being one of the most amazing things I have ever done.

Taking care of animals at the end of life is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done and yes, hardest. And how do I do it? I cry a lot.
